I knew we weren't immortal and one day this might happen, but it still doesn't make this easier. • HM2 Marc-Antoine Clarieaux: Marc's my best friend. We've both lost our homeworlds, so he understands that pain. He's been in for a long time, and his skills reflect that. He has a warriors spirit, I could tell when his chest was blown open and he picked up that magnum and saved my ass, I owe him infinite beers for that one. He's had my back the entire time we've served together and I'm glad to have him by my side on the field. I just hope he doesn't die like everyone else.
  
  
• 1st Lieutenant Jim Preston: The Lieutenant is a good guy. This is my first ODST unit, but the Officers in Force Recon were definitely not this relaxed, sometimes I don't know where the line is in terms of professionalism, but we've had good conversations. Even though he's young he handles himself like the best of them. I'm glad he's our Commanding Officer. He's very relaxed and it's nice to see that sometimes. I don't know how he does it.
  
  
• GySgt James Banner: He was a hardass but in a good way. One that made you want to push yourself to your limit. I can't really believe he's gone. I don't think anyone person is going to be able to fill the hole left in the unit. See you soon Gunny. I wonder sometimes how things would be different if you were still around. Kyle told me what you said before he died, you seemed to have a big impact on him. I'm glad your words gave him some peace before his death.
  
  
• LCpl Lance Beaulle: After my Brother died we talked, we've been talking a lot lately, he's a good guy. He knows what it like to lose family and it helped to talk to him I think. He's not bad on the field either.

• SSG Wilhelm Osborne: He is dependable in combat.  I know what he did to those Insurrectionists, it's not what I would have done, but I respect him for being bold enough to defy ONI. I hope he knows his actions are going to result in more Insurrectionists being created that will be more radicalized because of their loss. But the planet is doomed now so I guess it didn't really matter. Other than that he's a good leader and my disdain for his decision won't get in the way of me following his orders.
  
• HM3 Mallory King: She's a great medic, saved my ass a lot of times, and she can throw one hell of a punch apparently. Other than that we're very different, I don't understand where she comes from and she doesn't understand where I come from, and that's fine by me.
  
• LCpl Niles Lancelot Pershing: Sometimes he can be annoying, other times he's kind of funny, but I think he's alright. He's fun to talk shit to, but sometimes he focuses too much on stupid history that has no relevance anymore. Definitely an Earthborn. Also he owes me a beer for getting me shot, and I intend to collect.

Current Thoughts.
The Doctors as the base told me they don't know how much more my body can take after my last injury, I guess my age is starting to catch up to me, even if I am only 28. I have been wounded a lot though so it doesn't surprise me. Not to mention my mental state, I just feel like everyone around me is dying and I can't stop it no matter how strong I get and how hard I train and fight. I feel more powerless then ever. I need to keep fighting for my sake, I can't stop now, not after all that I've lost, I have to keep going.

Personal History.
Kyle and Kevin were born three years apart, Kyle the older of the two was born in 2518 and Kevin two years his younger born in 2520, on the planet Jericho VII. Their mother stayed at home and took care of them and their father worked in the Alt Burgundy distillery. Their childhood was filled with troublemaking; stealing, fighting with each other, fighting other kids in school. Their parents had no idea how to control the two wild boys.
In 2525 the same year the Human-Covenant war started, the Freedom League began an insurrection on their home planet. ODSTs and Spartans were deployed to quell the rebellion. During the months of fighting Kyle and Kevin’s home was destroyed by the insurrectionists. The Thomas family was forced into homelessness. Their lives became more challenging as the days went on.
Once the insurrection was taken care of by the UNSC reaction force their family was still on the streets. One night their shack, which they called home, was broken into. While Kyle and Kevin slept the sly criminals killed their mother and father, and took anything they could find of value. They awoke to the horror of their dead parents and took to the streets with only each other to look out for.
They were found months later and taken to an orphanage. After years of living in the orphanage, the Covenant finally found Jericho VIII in 2532. Kyle and Kevin were loaded into a UNSC transport ship, along with many other orphans. When Kyle came of age less than a year later to enlist in the UNSC Marines he did without hesitation, Kevin would soon follow. Both ended up in the same Marine outfit and both volunteered for UNSC Marine Force Reconnaissance. After months of brutal training and mental testing, both made it through the selection and became Recon Marines. After eight years of covert missions, direct action, and special recon missions against the Covenant, Kyle and Kevin were both chosen for ODST selection.
The ODST training was like nothing had experienced yet. The physicality wasn't an issue for the two Recon Marines, it was the taxing psychological training. They both relied on each other for support through the months of preparation for placement into an ODST unit. Then that day finally came. It was 2547 when the finished their ODST training and were assigned a unit. Kyle now 30 and Kevin 28, both had seen combat, but nothing could prepare them for what they would see as ODSTs.
