Summit 2226 END: Humanity elected leader of the Citadel Council, Genophage cure coming

This article will contain live coverage of the Galactic Summit taking place between the Hierarchy, Union, Republic, Alliance, Junta, Compact, Courts of Dekuuna, and the Protectorate.

The Summit Room, Onboard the Citadel:

The Proceeding starts with major representatives for each race's governments taking a seat at the table. The most notable is the Salarian, Krogans, Turians, Humans and the Asari. The Krogan Junta is represented by a wary looking Prime Chieftain Urdnot Wrex. Who has a apparatus tightly clamped around his face and forehead to prevent the infection of his two advisors, Urdnot Krux and a sizable looking krogan wearing a black and gold outfit. The Salarian Union is represented by both Councilor Akasis and Dalatrass Linron, who is the successor of her bloodline's leader back during the war. The Human Systems Alliance is solely represented by Councilor Coats, a veteran of the Reaper War. The Turian Hierarchy is represented by Councilor Sparatus, Primarch Victus and General Corinthus. The Asari Republic is represented by Councilor Tevos and her military advisor, Elder Justicar Samara.

Councilor Sparatus takes his cane and slowly helps himself stand up. He coughs and clears his throat saying "The Summit will now begin, Councilor Akasis of the Salarian Union has asked for me to lead this Summit to help ease the problems that the Krogan have bee-" Prime Chieftain Wrex lurches forward slightly saying with a growl "I don't need his damn pity. His courtesy will not erase what has transpired on Tuchanka. Especially by a bomb that was created in Salarian design!" The Dalatrass glares at Wrex and speaks saying "He is in no condition to speak here. It is obvious that his hatred for our kind has already made up his mind." Prime Chieftain Wrex growls saying "My people are dying to a disease that we've already beaten once before with a cure, one that we earned! You have no righ-!'

General Corinthus stands up saying "Enough! Both of you! For spirits' sake you cannot even be in a room together without resorting to fighting!" Krux pats Wrex's shoulder to settle him down. Krux steps forward saying "What my esteemed Chieftain friend is trying to say is that we would like to resolve this without further violence, and restore the Genophage to the pages of history and not the front page of the news." The General nods slowly, seemingly satisfied that one was capable of containing his cool. He slowly sits down while Councilor Sparatus continues "It is apparent that possible foulplay has been involved. Prime Chieftain, I'd like for you to tell us what happened on Tuchanka, Most of the galaxy has been kept in the dark and only rumors have surfaced to give light to the situation."

Prime Chieftain Wrex grumbles and slowly stands up "My scouts, who are now dead from this plague- He glares at Akasis and Linron "-Have told me that several enforcers attempted to stop a group of foreigners after they disappeared beneath the city in a restricted part of the massive underground network. They quickly set up this device, nearly the size of two krogan. And detonated it upon being discovered by my scouts. The foreigners died instantly from resulting explosion and my scouts were gravely wounded. I had my best men sacrifice their well-being to go down into the Valley to find the bodies of those responsible. Wrex's eyes curl into the most furious gaze ever laid upon a salarian as he opened his omni-tool. Soon images of burnt and disfigured salarians are shown in a photo. They have boils and third-degree burns all over their bodies and armor. One of them has a STG emblem that was just barely burnt off.

Councilor Akasis as well as Dalatrass Linron widen their eyes at the sight of the evidence. Gasps erupted from the Compact, Court and Protectorate representatives. The Hierarchy representatives slowly examined the photo closely. Appearing neither surprised or appalled. Wrex begins to swipe through all the photos taken. Some becoming more detailed and brutal by the next. Until one was shown with the Salarian's head being examined brutishly. Councilor Coats stands up yelling "Alright, That is enough! The evidence is irrefutable. But we still have much to discuss!" Prime Chietain Wrex slams his fist on the table yelling "My people are suffering because of the acts of Salarians once again! You don't deserve the position of Galactic 'leaders' when your people are condemning my people to death once again!" Akasis tries to speak before Linron cuts him off which leads to him placing a hand over his face. "This is forged! Fake! Mockery! We gave no such order for a 'plague' to be deployed on Tuchanka! This is fraudulent and a false-flag! You're trying to take attention off the various colonies that the Krogan have forcibly been taking in the Traverse! Wrex explodes forward and nearly falls on the table yelling "I ought to fucking rip your head off your shoulders for even TRYING to shift blame you spineless, slime-" Krux quickly springs forward and grabs Wrex by his arm and shoulder as he restrains him saying "Wrex, enough! We don't know all the details of this. STG elements always mean there's more going on than we think. Maybe some Dalatress wants us to declare war, just so they can use us again. Let's not repeat the Rebellions." Councilor Coats as well as General Corinthus and Defense Minister Celembrios stand up in reflex to Wrex's outburst. Sparatus shakes his old head saying "We will be reviewing and seeing if these pictures are truly forged or not. This meeting is at a end for now until tomorrow...Some people need to process this..clearly."

The video ends with the representatives taking their leave and Wrex being escorted out by Krux and the other advisor. The Salarians are escorted out by a Salarian Spectre. The last three to leave are Councilor Coats, Primarch Victus and Defense Minister Celembrios who share a word for a moment before leaving.

The room is occupied once again as soon as the feed starts with all the previous representatives retaining their former positions inside the meeting room. Prime Chieftain Wrex appears displeased, but calm with Urdnot Krux at his side as well as another krogan wearing a black and gold uniform. Councilor Sparatus looks around the room and then slowly stands up with the help of his walking cane. "Ladies and Gentlemen. Now that we've expelled our...Grievances. We should speak about how we're going to deal with this issue and offer solutions to this problem." Councilor Akasis leans forward to speak while looking towards Prime Chieftain Wrex saying "Prime Chieftain Urdnot Wrex. I know that you will have a hard time believing anything I say, but you must believe me when I tell you that this is not the work of the Union. We have nothing to gain from burdening your people with another disease such as this. I implore you to realize that something else must be wrong here."

Wrex frowned but listened with Krux whispering to his side in a possible effort to calm him down. Wrex raised his hand for a moment a slowly rose from his seat, towering over everyone else. "Nearly fourty-years ago. When the galaxy called for the aid of the Krogan. I answered with a deal, Many krogan would of been contempt to leave the turians and the humans to their fates. But I didn't, I gave the galaxy a simple bargain that we were rightfully owed, a cure for the Genophage. It is because of the efforts of a human-" Wrex's face slightly contorts into a smile upon saying the word, "-and a salarian. That my people have that cure today. Councilor, I think you can start to see why I'm pissed." Councilor Akasis spoke while Dalatrass Linron contorted her face into a shrouded glare. "Urdnot Wrex. Many of those who held stigma with the Krogan have passed on. But I can see today that those wounds are still apparent. I fear that, we may have problems on both sides of this conflict. The Union did not order the deployment of any sort of second Genophage, But Linron's ramblings about krogan expansion do not go unwarranted. After the war, You asked for a new homeworld. Something we tried to work out but in the end we could not. So we gave you the resources scavenged from the Reapers to help rebuild the world you already have. Then you asked for more territory. Something we granted, but you were not satisfied with. But you were still contempt to take what you had. Some have not, Now I can acknowledge the problem with a possible /rogue/ STG team, but you need to understand that there is more going with the krogan than you may of heard."

Prime Chieftain Wrex remained silent. The black and gold uniformed krogan's face contorted into a frown slowly. Glaring at the Dalatrass from across the table while Krux nodded his head and listened alongside Wrex, though both him and Wrex didn't have smiles, they weren't overly pissed either. The black and gold krogan spoke out "The addition of a few colonies pales in comparison to a curse that would destroy our next generation! You have no right!" Wrex paused and looked to his left and shot a glare at the krogan. Krux stood up saying "You don't speak for the clans, Raik Orlonk" Urdnot Krux jolted his head out the room. The krogan growled and turned to walk out. Krux followed him out. Prime Chieftain Wrex shuffled around in his seat saying "I remained unaware of these..Colonies, You'll have to forgive my ignorance for being responsible for a fledgling Junta and a whole bunch of other Council-granted colonies." He grumbled off. Akasis exhaled and nodded. He rubbed his chin saying "I will say this, I will be putting our best minds forward to developing a cure for this disease. But we have one problem. We don't have the original cure to work off of nor the patients available to test variants." Wrex rubbed his neck and coughed slightly saying "I can grant passes for some people to come off-world to be patients. But I will be keeping people around with them to make sure nothing else comes to harm them."

Councilor Akasis nodded in agreement and went to speak before Krux burst through the meeting door. Councilor Coats, Sparatus and Tevos looked up. Urdnot Krux blurted out "A colony has been attacked in the Eagle Nebula!" The military advisers in the room appeared cautious while Councilor Akasis spoke "Urdnot Krux, What is the-" Dalatrass Linron appeared to be looking down at her console before looking up with a frown. She stands up yelling "La'Tash is being attacked by the Krogan?! What is this?!" Prime Chieftain Wrex furrowed his brow and looked to Krux for a moment. Akasis exclaimed "That is one of our colonies!"

Dalatrass Linron jolted a finger at Wrex saying "You're responsible for this! Now your think your people can just go to war as they please?!" Akasis and Krux quickly moved to dispell the oncoming argument before Wrex busted out in anger towards Linron, Councilor Tevos this time raises her voice "This session is over! Must it always be something to cause you two to explode??" The Representatives start to file out while the Dalatrass and Prime Chieftain yelled at eachother.

The Meeting room has be filled now with additional seats. All participants representing those who support the Citadel Council and their laws. The usual participants remain from day two. Councilor Sparatus stands and acknowledges the delay with a opening statement "The Council would like to forgive the absence of a discussion yesterday due to difficulties with side-issues regarding Citadel law. After reviewing the data we've been presented over the course of this Summit. We've come to a conclusion that the Salarian and Krogan situation with the copycat genophage is a issue that must be solved between both the Union and the Junta. And in favor of the rest of the Council. We've held a vote and the governments of the various other races agree that the Salarians must step down to handle this very serious problem first and foremost. And we find it highly unlikely that Council interests will be upheld in a conflict such as this." Dalatrass Linron furrowed her brow but remained silent while Wrex remained angry, but somewhat relieved.

Sparatus continued "I have been asked by Councilor Coats who represents the Human Systems Alliance for a moment of everyone's time to secure a peaceful solution and a overall fix to the current political climate. Coats?" Sparatus stood down while Councilor Coats stood up, next to him is a new face. A man dressed in a decorated Alliance uniform. He appears fairly tan with a tattoo showing up near the top of his collar. He appears aged with a stubble having recently been trimmed up. "Fleet Admiral Abner was unable to attend today's Summit so I apologize for that. His job however was of the upmost importance and I will speak of that here in a moment. In his stead I have General Vega who oversees the heart of the Marines on Earth." General James Vega offers only a nod and glance to Wrex to which Wrex shakes his head and seems to chuckle.

Coats continues saying "On the behalf of Humanity. I'd like to try and resolve this situation with the Salarians and Krogans by offering the blueprints for the original cure used by Doctor Solus back during the Reaper War. I and along with the rest of the Alliance would rather see our brightest and strongest allies stick together rather than tear each other apart. Regardless on your thoughts of a krogan 'sabotage' or not. The choice to make a cure was made once and the unlawful deployment of a second strain is, put bluntly, insane." Dalatrass Linron adjusted her seat and went to lean forward but paused for a moment as she noticed the Asari and Drell representatives eyeing her. She instead remained silent. Coats continues "As for the absence of a figurehead of Citadel law. I would like to nominate myself and Humanity as the leaders and guardians of galactic stability. Fleet Admiral Abner has shown that we will not allow ourselves to break apart so easily. And instead of allowing a problem to fester and grow we will handle it accordingly. I do not ask this lightly of all of you. But I believe Humanity is ready for the next step."

Councilor Sparatus blinked and looked to the others for a moment saying "With the end of this Summit at I hand. I believe that Councilor Coats has the right to process this vote. The sooner that a decision is made the sooner we can begin to stabilize the galaxy." Defense Minister Celembrios stood up partially saying "Then let us put it to a vote. Humanity stuck out for us even though they surely could of left us be and not even minded the State of Gatol's actions. But they didn't. They took the fight to their core alongside those who wanted vengeance. I vote yes to Humanity's leadership." Celembrios stood down for a moment while the others talked among themselves. Councilor Tevos stood up slightly saying "With the propistion of a cure for the genophage. I believe that Humanity is taking the right steps towards galactic peace. I have been here longer than any of those on this Council. And I believe that Humanity has earned this right. I vote yes." The Vol Protectorate rep grumbled to himself as Councilor Sparatus chimed in "Councilor. Your people have proven that even the biggest of problems cannot split the Alliance. With your achievements at Gatol. I believe that Primarch Victus understands and supports your resolve. I vote yes." Soon after the Hierarchy's vote is thrown in the Volus throw theirs in as well "We support the endeavors -HSK- of the Earth-clan. I vote -HSK- yes." The votes follow with those voting yes being the Fushan Collective, the Vol Protectorate and the Drell Compact. Those voting no being the Courts of Dekuuna and the Raloin Empire.

Councilor Sparatus and Tevos stood up with Sparatus saying in lead "Then it is decided. Under the authority as Galactic Summit leader, I recognize Humanity as the figurehead of the Citadel Council. To close out this meeting. I invite the Galaxy to rejoice in this decision. And to see to a hopeful end to the conflict between the Krogans and Salarians."
